What is Spirulina?

Spirulina is a nutrient rich micro blue-green algae in the shape of a perfect spiral coil. Biologically speaking, it is one of the oldest living organisms on earth. Its scientific name is Arthrospira Plantensis and it grows in natural ponds with high pH levels.

  • The United Nations Organisation (UNO) in its World Food Conference of 1974 declared Spirulina as ‘the best food for the future.’
  • World Health Organisation (WHO) has pronounced Spirulina ‘the greatest super food on earth.’
  • NASA scientists found 1 kg of Spirulina nutritionally equal to 1000 kgs of assorted vegetables.

Spirulina has been used as a food supplement for the past 20 years all over the world.
